Based on an article from Becker's Hospital report, the following pricing discrepancies were identified.

A study in JAMA Health Forum analyzed Humana's pricing data for medical services in October 2022 and found that negotiated prices for office visits and procedures were highest in the upper Midwest and Southeast but lowest in the central U.S. and Florida. The study covered seven procedures and discovered varying payment rates. County-level prices were generally lower in the central U.S. and Florida, while prices were higher in the upper Midwest and Southeast. Geographic patterns showed that many higher-priced counties bordered lower-priced ones. The reasons for these price variations remain unclear, with potential factors including quality differences and market power imbalances. Future studies are needed to investigate the underlying causes.
