Gunnison Valley Health (GVH) is partnering with UC Health to implement a new electronic health record (EHR) system, Epic, to enhance patient care and streamline access to medical information. This transition, set to go live in May 2025, aims to improve patient health record access and includes features like user-friendly patient portals, online scheduling, and bill payment capabilities. GVH CEO Jason Amrich clarified that this partnership does not mean GVH is becoming part of the UC Health system; instead, GVH will remain independent while using UC Health’s Epic system through the Epic Community Connect program. This affiliation allows GVH to maintain its governance and legal structure while benefiting from advanced tools and resources to improve patient care and community health services. The implementation of Epic will enable providers to access comprehensive health histories, test results, and treatment plans instantly, reducing delays and ensuring accurate diagnoses. The new patient portal will be finalized in 2025, with more information on its features and usage to be shared as the implementation approaches. This initiative underscores GVH’s commitment to remaining an independent hospital system while enhancing healthcare delivery.
